Counting from the birth of the analog video phone in 1964, video conferencing has been developed for 46 years. 1. The first remote video call technology came out (1960s)

As early as 1956, AT&T began to study the Picture phone prototype, which was able to transmit images through public switched telephones. Finally, in 1964, the company launched Picture Phone for the first time at the World Exposition in New York, providing attendees with the opportunity to make video calls with other people in another place. The caller can not only hear the voice on the other side of the line, but also see his/her picture. Then came the concept of video conferencing.

2. The early development stage of video conferencing (1970s-1980s)

In the early 1970s, it began to use video conferencing in its Picture phone service. However, the cost of this new communication method is too high for most people to reach. In addition, the device also has some problems, such as bulky and difficult to use. More importantly, the photo is so small and blurry. In 1982, another company's Compression Lab released the first video conferencing system, which was huge and expensive. However, it was the only video conferencing system available until 1986 when Picture Tel entered the market with its much cheaper video conferencing system.

3. The rapid development of video conferencing technology (1990s)

In 1991, Picture Tel cooperated with IBM to launch the first PC-based video conferencing system with a relatively low cost. Since then, a new chapter in the video conferencing industry has begun. Unfortunately, on the stage, a fully equipped conference room is needed, and the rent is too high.

4. Video conferencing began to accelerate its popularity (2000s)

Benefiting from the maturity of communication technology, video conferencing gained popularity and development during this period. In particular, optical fiber access has become more and more popular in the market, and high-definition video has become possible. Internet-based hardware-based video conferencing and software-only video conferencing have been widely used. Especially with the introduction of the H.323 protocol, the video conferencing system has been unprecedented developed. In 2008, mainstream manufacturers released the first 1080P high-definition video conferencing system, marking the video conferencing system as the high-definition era.

5. Video conferencing is moving towards the era of cloud conferencing (2010s)

The development of cloud computing technology has driven the "cloud" of video conferencing. More and more video conferencing manufacturers have begun to put video conferencing on the cloud, which makes video conferencing more convenient.
